I always begin a new year with prayer. Prayer for financial prosperity, good health, abundant blessings and all those good things. But I had long ago stopped being a praying woman. I mean I prayed often and I prayed on occasion. You know the Facebook requests or when I messed up and needed a right now breakthrough. The usual “drive by prayers” to thank God for not allowing that 18 wheeler to kill me on my commute or for my kids to stay safe. Needed prayers but not the purposeful or just because prayers I used to do so long ago.

Then, one day I started getting on my knees again and praying in the morning, at night and sometimes both. During my prayer time I found the “peace” I was missing. By stopping everything and connecting again purposefully, I found my path. And unsurprisingly, it had been there all along, but I allowed the world with its hustle and bustle to block my view. I found myself making decisions without consulting my higher power. How could I be surprised with the outcomes?

I will not lie and say that I haven’t missed a day since. I’m still working on my “praying woman” moniker. Nevertheless, renewing my prayer life has made me thrilled to explore what life has in store for me. Prayer is the ritual that connects me to the source of my well being. I just need to make sure I don’t forget that prayer led me to my path ever again. I mean I have no excuse cause it’s free and available to all.

So, I challenge you to commit some time to connecting with your source, finding your missing “peace”; spending some time in prayer and maybe even becoming a praying woman, man or child. Your path is waiting. Your purpose is calling. And I can’t wait to see what you accomplish!
